WHY HANDMADE RUGS ?
Handmade carpets are eco-friendly and natural products. Whole manufacturing process are consisted of natural materials such as wool, cotton, silk and organic dyes. Hand made carpets are truly works of art. Despite similiar appearance of both handmade and machine made, there are many differences.
One comprehensive way between machine made and handmade is the stitch pattern. Unlike machine made, weave pattern of handmade is asymmetrical. It is obvious on the back side of the carpet. Machine made carpet has symmetrical and ordered stich pattern.
One of another difference is craftmanship. As with most things, the handcrafted aspect means that extra care makes each carpet and rug unique. Factory carpets are woven in an hour by textile machine. On the other hand, weaving process of oriental rugs is about 3 months up to a year.
Whats more, factory rugs are made of artificial wool combination and chemical mixture but handmade ones are made of organic colors and materials such as vegetable dye and animal fur.
Last but not least main difference is density of knots. Mass produced carpets are generally single knotted goods but handmade are woven by traditional double knot style. Thanks to this method, you can use hand made carpets 3 times longer than machine mades.
